Job Description:

RedLine Performance Solutions (RedLine) has been in the HPC solutions engineering services business for approximately 17 years and is consistently determined to keep the “bar of excellence” quite high for new hires. This enables RedLine to accomplish what other firms cannot and promotes a high level of staff retention. We offer services ranging from full life cycle HPC systems engineering to remote managed services to HPC program analysis. We are located in the Washington, DC area and are looking for a HPC Hardware Technician to join us.

US citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance are mandatory requirements for this position. The position is located at a customer site in Knoxville, TN. Our preference is for local candidates.

The HPC Hardware Technician is responsible for daily maintenance of a Linux server cluster at a customer site. Areas of responsibility are primarily hardware, with some Linux system administration support expected. Candidates require excellent hardware problem determination and troubleshooting skills. Regular interaction and communication with the customer and site staff are required. This role is responsible for keeping the customer informed of activities and progress, and answering relevant customer inquiries concerning their cluster. The HPC Hardware Technician will be trained on the customer’s specific cluster solution.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting and resolving hardware problems on Linux cluster hardware and networking equipment
  • Preventive maintenance of cluster hardware
  • Provide off-hours support as required to maintain system availability
  • Work on custom special projects as assigned
  • Participate in weekly teleconference team meetings.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • High school diploma
  • Basic knowledge of Linux
  • Experience with x86 based server hardware
  • Basic TCP/IP knowledge
  • Good organization skills to balance and prioritize work, and ability to multitask
  • Good communication skills to communicate with support personnel, customer, and managers
